What I'm doing these days. Not a resume, not a project list; just where my time goes.
Working
- Role Finance & Operations Analyst and internal developer at Day & Night Solar, a commercial solar and energy-storage contractor.
- Building I'm the sole developer of the internal operations platform (Python + SQLite): data pipelines, QuickBooks import automation that fails closed, confidence-scored reconciliation, document extraction, and a governed AI agent workflow. Concepts only; the code is private.
Building on my own time
- Atlas A local-first personal data lakehouse.
- Watt in Tarnation A garage solar lab. The next step is a power meter, not a battery.
- Solar compute A solar-powered compute demonstrator. Early.
- Cinemetrics Still shipping to it.
Learning
- Measuring Measuring before tuning: local LLM inference on a 12 GB GPU.
- Queues Queue semantics for AI agents.
- Electronics Datasheet-first electronics.
Writing
- Lessons Short lessons from what breaks.
Reading and using
- Tools Claude Code, MCP, llama.cpp, Ollama, ComfyUI, SQLite, pandas, pytest.
The plan
- Now Hold automation to one rule: no check ships without a caller, a schedule, a consequence when it fails, and an owner. A check nobody calls is a false sense of safety, not a safeguard.
- Next Take "one store, one fact, one owner" out of this one platform and make it a pattern I carry into whatever I build next, not a rule that only applies here. Publish the public reconciliation demo so the finance-automation work has proof a stranger can run, not just a description.
- Later Go deeper on the formal side of data engineering — distributed systems, database internals, the theory behind the verification habits I've mostly learned by getting burned. The instinct is there; I want the fundamentals under it.
- Standard Keep writing the lessons as they happen, not after. A rule I can't trace back to the day it cost me something doesn't go on the list.
